Notification of the 50th SBA Annual General Meeting

We are delighted to announce that the 50th SBA Annual General Meeting will be held on March 27th, 2021. It will be held via Zoom due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The meeting is scheduled for 2pm UK time and so we hope that some of our overseas members will be able to join us – but due to the different time zones it is all but impossible to accommodate our friends in both the USA and Australia/New Zealand!
Unlike previous years and AGMs, the 2021 AGM will be ‘business’ only – it will cover the requirements for our AGM but, sadly, with no auction, photo competition or general socialising. We will, hopefully, make up for this with the 50th anniversary events this summer.
There will be no award of trophies for the 2020 season due to the lack of steamboat rallies or events.
What happens at the AGM?
The formal Agenda for the AGM is shown below. This sets out what will take place at the AGM.
What do I need to do?
(1) Note the date and time in your diary!
(2) Confirm your attendance by registering here. Shortly before the AGM, the invitation to the Zoom meeting will be posted on the members’ section of the website and will be emailed to members who have signed up and have provided an email address.
(3) If you would like your apologies noted, you can do this either by emailing the Hon. Secretary or by completing the enclosed form and posting it back to the SBA’s Hon Secretary to arrive before the date of the AGM.

Officers: Kevin Slater stands down as Chair after 3 years in office.
Nomination for Chair – John Jewsbury
Nominations for Chair: Any other nominations for the role of Chair should be made to the Hon Secretary and must be received at least 7 days prior to the AGM.
Chair: To be appointed
Hon. Treasurer: Nigel Thomson
Hon. Secretary: Gillie Slater
Hon. Membership Secretary: Roger Powell
Roger Powell was co-opted by the committee to the office of Membership Secretary during 2020 and now offers himself for election as Membership Secretary. Nigel Thomson and Gillie Slater are eligible and willing to continue if re-elected.
Committee:
Felicity Palmer, Daniel Hutchinson, Helen Steeple, Dot Bullough, Adrian Greco, Roger Heise and John Winn are all eligible and willing to continue if re-elected. Keith Ward stands down after 5 years.
Nominations for Committee: Any other nominations for the committee should be made to the Hon. Secretary and must be received at least 7 days prior to the AGM.
Appointment of Vice President: It has been proposed that Mark Rudall be awarded the post of Vice President. Proposed by Kevin Slater, seconded by Adrian Birtles.
Awarding of Honorary Membership to Roger Mallinson for his lifelong service to Steamboating in general and S.L. Shamrock in particular. Proposed by Helen Steeple, seconded by Dot Bullough

Any Other Business Any such matters must be notified to the Secretary as soon as possible and, in any event, before 10 March 2021.

The AGM will then be closed.
