Puffing a' Wey 11, 12, 13 July 2014

Puffing a' Wey is a joint SBA and National Trust event which brings colour and variety to the centre of Guildford in high summer. The event is highly economical, the only charges being made for the Saturday evening meal provided on site and to which SBA boaters and National Trust workers are invited.

We are guests of the Trust and licence fees are waived for the weekend, for which we are very grateful but the deal is that if you are able (i.e have checked with your boat insurers) it is hoped that boats will welcome non-paying interested visitors for the occasional short puff along the river. This can be a lot of fun - rewarding in itself - and, of course, there is an attractive river to explore and nice places to moor up and eat over the weekend.

Boats can arrive from 9.00 on the Friday and stay over until the Monday if desired. There is ample trailer space and camping is possible too. Dapdune is a delightful venue... Oddly rural while also slap in middle of Guildford, and the Wey is an attractive navigation a little bit reminiscent, in parts, of the Upper Thames.
