Steamboats @ Bristol Harbour Festival – it’s FREE!

Welcome to the Steamboat element of the Bristol Harbour Festival – we look forward to seeing old hands and new faces. The format will be much the same as previous years – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

For new comers: this means we will launch on Friday from lunchtime onwards at the Cottage Pub slip (for free), park our trailers at the top of the slip (for free) and perhaps partake of a little light refreshment at the Cottage Pub (unfortunately not free!). The Harbour Master will provide us with the services of one of his launches to tow us up to the moorings (free, of course) if you don’t feel like getting up steam. Don’t forget to collect your coal before you depart the slip (yep – free coal!). You can pop back later in the weekend to collect more if you can’t carry all you need on Friday.

On Friday evening we will have a ‘Get Together’ meal at a local eatery (not I’m afraid free but very good value!).

Saturday is our ‘performing’ day when we will make two or three processions around the Harbour in convoy with the local ‘celebrity’ DJ on the PA trying to educate the population of Bristol about the strange hobby of Steamboating.

Saturday evening we will adjourn to the Bristol Society of Model and Experimental Engineers Miniature Railway site at Ashton Court for a BBQ (alas not free but ridiculously cheap – bring your own booze).

Sunday we will depart around 10h00 for a trip through the Harbour and then out onto the River Avon for an approximately 2 hour steam to a pub for lunch, returning to the Harbour around 16h00 to either pull out and go home or back to the moorings for an extra night of partying.

Full details will be sent so don’t worry if you haven’t fully understood my ramblings – please feel free to email me if you have any specific questions: kevin@manorfarmengineering.co.uk

This is an SBA event, covered by the SBA event rules and insurance but it is also part of a larger event and the conditions set by the Primary Event Organiser will also apply.

The Member of the SBA coordinating with the Event Organiser is Kevin Slater.
